Aquaculture & Fisheries Regional Development Officer

Working with wild fish and aquaculture to facilitate a sustainable future for both industries

A vacancy has occurred for a Regional Development Officer (RDO) Argyll. The successful candidate will be one of a mutually supportive network of four RDO’s, covering the Western Highlands and Islands of Scotland, under the Tripartite Working Group Programme. The post holder will be located with the Argyll Fisheries Trust based in Inveraray.

This multi-tasked role offers a unique opportunity for a dynamic individual with an open mind, negotiating skills, and a compelling personality to develop co-operation, build on improving fish health management and promote best practice in both the wild fish and aquaculture sectors. A fisheries biology degree is highly desirable but not essential. Candidates should have a good working knowledge of fish farming and wild salmonids, excellent IT skills and a full driving licence.

The job includes establishing and facilitating joint Area Management Groups, monitoring and promoting Area Management Agreements, data collation and interpretation, farm visits, wild fish monitoring and project management. The Regional Development Officer will report to a Regional Steering Group and the Scottish Government’s Tripartite Working Group. Information can be found on the following web sites :-
