Excellent benefi ts package and opportunity to be home or office based. The jobs are full time but part time working will be considered. IFGs aim to improve the management of Scotland’s inshore fisheries out to 6nm and to give commercial inshore fishermen (owners, skippers and crew) a strong voice in wider marine management developments.
IFGs will develop inshore fisheries management plans in their respective areas. You will plan and deliver activities in support of this objective, you will advise on fisheries management practices, manage research projects and maintain an up to date knowledge of local fishing activity and the wider legislative context. As the role develops, you may in due course cover more than one IFG.
Effective communication and liaison with IFG members, the wider fishing industry, conservation agencies and the other main stakeholders will be key to the success of the role. You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to persuade and influence. Ideally, you will have experience of fisheries management and/or the fishing industry itself with good organizational skills as well as a proven ability to achieve consensus and deliver results.
Local fishing knowledge and/or a degree in Marine Science or a related discipline would be advantageous. Following a successful probation period, this is a fixed term contract to March 2012.
