The Scottish Salmon Company sponsors George Kerr’s Junior Judo Club

19 November, 2010 -

George Kerr and Mike Corbett

Mike Corbett, Chief Executive of The Scottish Salmon Company, said: “Congratulations to Dr George Kerr on being awarded the Radio Forth Best Sports Personality of the Year award.

He was also recently granted the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the promotion of judo and exchange and understanding between Japan and the UK from the Japanese government, as well as a Doctorate of the Heriot Watt University.

“He is one of a select number of athletes in the world to be a 10 Dan in judo and at 73 remains an immensely inspirational figure in the field.

“Judo reinforces healthy attitudes. As sponsors of George Kerr’s Junior Judo Club, we believe it is important we continue to encourage young people to make positive choices in their lives and that we use sport as a means of promoting values which will last them a lifetime.

“Our healthy living initiative is targeting people of all ages, and George’s continuing success shows judo is not only a sport for the young. Well done to him and I hope our initiative will help more people discover what judo has to offer.”
