Norway: World championship candidates compete in friendly ‘warm-up’
26 July, 2006 -
“FLIRTING with Norwegian seafood” is an informal culinary competition that is taking place in Stavanger tomorrow during the ‘Gladmat-festival’, with Norwegian seafood taking centre stage.
Six candidates in the world cooking championship, Bocuse d’Or (to be held in January 2007) are to meet in a ‘friendly’. During this special ‘warm-up’ round, candidates will have four hours to prepare dishes with the Norwegian world championship raw materials: Norwegian halibut and king crab. In addition they are to prepare salmon as a starter.
The candidates from Norway, Belgium, Spain, Britain, Singapore and China are to be judged by a peoples' jury and a professional jury made up of international, well-known chefs.
The day after the competition the candidates will have the possibility to visit a halibut farm outside Stavanger and really get to know the product that is to follow them to the World Championship.
