Vietnam event to feature producers' session
22 March, 2007 -
THE forthcoming Asian Pacific Aquaculture conference is to feature a special Vietnamese producers' session, it has been announced.
This is the first time a major aquaculture conference has been held in Vietnam, reflecting the current dynamic growth of aquaculture in the region.
Over 800 delegates from across the Asia-Pacific are expected to attend the conference which has a varied three-day scientific programme, accompanied by a large trade show showcasing the latest in aquaculture technology.
The main scientific programme for the conference will focus on a range of topics of high relevance to aquaculture development in the region, including major sessions on catfish aquaculture, marine shrimp, freshwater and marine finfish and the role of aquaculture in integrated coastal zone management.
Whilst the conference will cater for an international audience, organisers and co hosts, the Vietnamese Ministry of Fisheries and the Asian Pacific Chapter of the World Aquaculture Society (APC-WAS), wanted to ensure that the needs and interests of local producers were met. This concept was welcomed by Uni President, lead sponsors of the conference, who have agreed to support a “Vietnamese Producers' Session” through the funding of six international keynote speakers. This session will take place over the entire day of August 7 and will cover a range of issues, with the morning session focusing on the production of vannamei prawns.
Asian Pacific Aquaculture 2007 is due to be held at the Melia Hotel, Hanoi from August 5-8 2007.
